Purpose of Classification:
Performs multi-craft functions for a major organizational unit or for multiple sites. Functions may include non-technical electrical, plumbing, grounds, carpentry, locksmith, custodial, and painting; provides day-to-day coordination and leadership to other employees performing similar work.
Standard Duties:
Coordinates the work of other facilities services technicians in completion of maintenance work orders; assists others with complex tasks. Maintains inventory of parts and supplies for facilities repairs; orders materials as needed. Monitors, maintains, and performs standard repairs to building electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilation and cooling systems. Assists licensed plumbers, electricians and HVAC personnel as appropriate. Prepares job estimates for customers including time and materials costs. Performs quality inspections on work completed by other facilities services technicians. Prepares and maintains records on all maintenance activities. Supervises the work of employees in supporting roles, including assigning workload and monitoring employee performance. Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services; ordering and inventory control. Knowledge of facilities services including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, utility operations, building maintenance, and carpentry.
Records maintenance skills. Organizing and coordinating skills.
Ability to prepare engineering documents, specifications and cost estimates for projects. Ability to monitor and/or maintain quality control standards. Ability to complete routine paperwork. Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade. Ability to lead and train staff and/or students. Ability to repair and maintain appliances and heating and cooling equipment. Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- High School diploma or GED certificate.
   Experience- Three (3) years of experience related to the standard duties as outlined.
   Equivalency- Completion of a post-secondary degree or certificate may substitute for years of experience.
   Certifications/License- Possession of a valid New Mexico driver's license is a requirement for this job.
