Purpose of Classification:
Provides excellent customer service and operations support for auxiliary operations including general parking operations, parking meter operations, vehicle rental contract utilization, fleet vehicle fuel credit cards and campus storage unit facility. Installs, maintains and troubleshoots parking meters and retrieves parking meter revenue. Assists with parking enforcement and security as needed.
Standard Duties:
Provide excellent customer service by telephone, email and in-person in response to questions regarding parking operations, parking meter questions, university fleet, general vehicle rental contract, and fleet vehicle fuel credit card use and campus storage units. Utilize parking operations software to generate reports, update customer information/accounts, vehicle information, etc. Prepare and process requests and documentation for departmental parking placards, temporary reserved parking and other parking related transactions. Inspect, maintain, repair and replace parking meters including meter housings, glass windows and internal mechanisms. Erect and remove temporary reserved parking signs. Retrieve parking meter revenue. Inspect storage units as needed to facilitate customer move-in and move-out and report damage. Install new parking meters and modify existing meters to comply with changes in requirements. Issue parking citations in accordance with parking regulations. Patrol parking lots, parking structures and the campus storage facility in order to report conditions requiring maintenance/repair and/or the existence of hazardous conditions. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge and understanding of principles, procedures, regulations, and standards applicable to the job. Understanding of the University's mission, vision and goals.
Skill in utilizing a computer; assisting customers with the online parking system, vehicle rental system use, fleet vehicle fuel credit card system use; utilizing operations related software; understanding vehicle rentals; driving a motor vehicle and utility/golf cart; performing mechanical repairs/adjustments to delicate timing mechanisms; operation of hand-held computer utilized for electronic parking meters and accuracy in preparing documentation for accounting transactions.
Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions; Ability to assess operating status of parking meters and/or equipment; Ability to install, repair and maintain parking meters and/or signs. Ability to interact with customers on the phone, by email and in-person effectively. Ability to maintain both paper and electronic records. Ability to drive a motor vehicle, utility cart or golf cart. Ability to visually inspect parking lots, equipment and building conditions and report findings.
Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- High School Diploma or GED certificate
   Experience- No previous work experience required.
