Purpose of Classification:
Administer local, state, and federal guidelines regarding payroll requirements and liabilities for New Mexico State University. Prepare required reports, tax forms and payments in an accurate and timely fashion. Review and establish procedures to provide accurate payroll information.
Standard Duties:
Responsible for the accuracy of information reported to employees, governmental agencies and other entities. Responsible for the issuance of W2 tax forms and other tax related documents. Responsible for reconciliation of payroll liability accounts and provide audit information. Responsible for communicating state and federal regulations along with University policies and procedures to employees and reporting agencies.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge and understanding of all regulatory provisions, guidelines, and procedures for the administration of federal and state employment taxation.
Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.
Ability to determine informational needs, to collect and analyze information, and to devise and develop statistical analyses and reports. Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart information.
Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
   Experience- Five (5) years of professional experience related to the standard duties as outlined.
