Purpose of Classification:
Plans, directs, and oversees the administration of programs and services for a medium/large community college ensuring compliance with ADA and provides leadership and consultation in promoting access and equity for persons with disabilities
Standard Duties:
Performs initial intake and assessment of students' learning behavior and determines appropriate referral for diagnostic testing of disabilities and/or attention deficit disorder. Instructs learning-disabled individuals and small groups on compensatory study skill strategies. Analyzes and documents progress of instruction sessions with learning-disabled students and maintains confidential student records. Evaluates diagnostic assessments of students and specifies appropriate communication strategies to convey "active" instructional material; accesses services of other campus support organizations.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of campus support organizations. Knowledge of compensatory study skill techniques. Knowledge of student evaluation and triage procedures.
Skill in preparing and maintaining student records.
Ability to communicate with and instruct students with learning disabilities. Ability to develop and apply communication strategies for the conveyance of instructional material to learning disabled students. Ability to develop and deliver presentations. Ability to investigate and analyze information and draw conclusions. Ability to observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, and progress. Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart confidential information.
Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
   Experience- Three (3) years of professional experience related to the standard duties as outlined.
