Purpose of Classification:
Using established procedures and working under immediate supervision, serves as the point of contact for users to receive support and maintenance with telecommunications equipment. Resolves routine telecommunication system failures through isolation, analysis, and troubleshooting of problem areas. Issues are typically resolved via phone or direct data link from a diagnostic center, but travel to sites may be necessary for more complex issues.
Standard Duties:
Assists with surveying and inspecting existing wire and cable equipment. Maintains facility records of cable equipment. Modifies wire and cable conditions. Verifies equipment inventories and modifies records as required to reflect existing conditions. Installs single line sets and associated wires and cables. Installs key systems and associated wire and cable. Installs building wire and cable. Ensures proper working order for a complex telephone system. Maintains necessary supplies. Maintains software driven telephone system. Analyzes, problem areas in the telephone system and takes appropriate action to eliminate problems as directed. Configures software and hardware on digital system to accommodate specific university requirements. Monitors circuits and maintains circuits at a level acceptable to university standards for efficient communications.

Knowledge and understanding of principles, procedures, regulations, and standards applicable to the job. Understanding of the University's mission, vision and goals.
Interpersonal and organizational communication, both oral and written.

Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- High School diploma or GED certificate.
   Experience- No previous work experience required.
