Purpose of Classification:
Formulate and apply mathematical modeling and other optimizing methods to develop and interpret information that assists senior university administration with decision making, policy formulation, or other managerial functions. May collect and analyze data and develop decision support software, service, or products. May develop and supply optimal time, cost, or logistics networks for program evaluation, review, or implementation.
Standard Duties:
Formulate mathematical or simulation models of problems, relating constants and variables, restrictions, alternatives, conflicting objectives, and their numerical parameters: Conducts special studies in areas such as the organization's operational effectiveness, capacity utilization, operating cost containment, academic and nonacademic performance management. Will identify, collect, organize and gather data/input, from appropriate sources, of a variety of information in relation to all aspects of a senior level central administration identified problem. Provides statistical analysis, simulations, predictive modeling (or other methods) on a variety of information to be utilized by university decision makers for problem resolution. Prepare management reports defining and evaluating problems and recommending solutions. Study and analyze information about alternative courses of action to determine which will offer the best outcomes: Inform and explain, clearly identifying sources of information, the impacts of various scenarios and possible courses of action to assist decision makers in choosing the best options and solutions for the university. Collaborate with senior administrators and decision makers to identify and solve a variety of problems and to clarify management objectives: Review of relevant existing policies and procedures providing recommendation; Development, evaluation, and corrective measures related to dysfunctional processes; Identifies strategic directions and provides leadership for various high-level projects that support strategic, tactical, thoughtful and well informed business decision-making. Collaborate with others in the organization to ensure successful implementation of chosen problem solutions: Ensure that data sources analyzed are vetted through the universities knowledge experts with the intent of communicating a clear and accurate understanding of data sets provided to decision makers. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications. Knowledge of computer hardware and software, including applications and programming. Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
Identify complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions. Use mathematics to solve problems. Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. Consider the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
Ability to choose the right mathematical methods or formulas to solve a problem. Ability to propose well-reasoned and timely decisions based on careful, objective review and informed analysis of available considerations and factors. Supports recommendations with accurate information or reasoning. Ability to present and express ideas and information clearly and concisely in a manner appropriate to the audience, whether oral or written. Actively listens to what others are saying to achieve understanding. Shares information with others and facilitates the open exchange of ideas and information. Is open, honest, and straightforward with others.
Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
   Experience- Eight (8) years of professional experience directly related to the standard duties as outlined.
