Purpose of Classification:
Manages the planning, development, and installation of enterprise network systems by evaluating current and future business requirements. Develops, maintains, and communicates project plans and schedules, prioritizes requirements, and coordinates human and financial resources. Ensures all software and hardware products are compatible with network integration.
Standard Duties:
Ensures adherence to established University and departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, and safety standards. Oversees the supervision of personnel, which includes work allocation, training, promotion and enforcement of internal procedures and controls, and problem resolution; evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions; motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance. Prepares and recommends budget for operation staffing, hardware, and other components, and maintains proper records. Maintains compliance with departmental security, audit procedures, and university policy.Analyzes University needs regarding use of network equipment and services, and provides planning, leadership, direction, and technical expertise to the campus on local and wide area network services. Establishes strategic and long-range planning for campus network services.Collaborates with other universities, government, and industry in formulation and development of national and regional networking initiatives. Identifies and coordinates all local campus network application services. Provides advice and assistance and serves as a key resource person to system and campus administrators concerning network services facilities. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of operational staffing and equipment requirements.Knowledge of current technological developments/trends in area of expertise. Knowledge of computer/network systems infrastructure requirements and standards. Knowledge of computer security systems, applications, procedures, and techniques.
Employee development and performance management skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
Ability to coordinate quality assurance programs in area of specialty. Ability to install, configure, and maintain personal computers, networks, and/or related hardware and software.
Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
   Experience- Five (5) years of experience directly related to the standard duties as outlined.
