Purpose of Classification: | |
Under direct supervision, performs work that is routine and instructions are usually detailed. Assists in the evaluation, design, and maintenance of existing or proposed data telecommunication systems (i.e. hardware and software). Prepares detailed specifications and flowcharts for implementation of new internal programs or modifications to vendor software. May assist with coordination of installation of hardware. Monitors the operation of voice telecommunications systems and services of vendors. | |
Standard Duties: | |
Under direct supervision, performs work that is routine and instructions are usually detailed. Assists in the evaluation, design, and maintenance of existing or proposed data telecommunication systems, both hardware and software. May analyze the needs of the user and recommends solutions. Prepares detailed specifications and flowcharts for implementation of new internal programs or modifications to vendor software. May assist with coordination of installation of hardware. Monitors the operation of voice telecommunications systems and services of vendors.Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. | |
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: | |
Knowledge of minicomputer operation, various computer languages, and minicomputer hardware and software; principles and practices of training and supervision; inventory control. | |
Skill in the operation and maintenance of various minicomputer systems. | |
Ability to work and communicate with a broad range of computer users; able to work with speed and accuracy under pressure; logically organize events and responses to situations; read and understand technical manuals; communicate orally and in writing; interface with computer customers and support personnel; maintain effective working relationships with associates and computer users; adapt to changes in software, equipment, and procedures. | |
