Purpose of Classification:
Under direct supervision, coordinates and provides technical assistance for classroom/conference room technology systems. Assists with the installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of classroom technology systems, film, video, and audio-visual equipment. Coordinates and provides technical assistance for presentations and events. Creates and maintains multimedia resource listings.
Standard Duties:
Sets-up and operates classroom technology and media equipment. Responds to requests for technical assistance and instructs users in the operation and utilization of applicable hardware and software. Initiates and tracks work orders to determine priorities, support requirements and equipment/inventory requirements. Tests, troubleshoots, performs preventative maintenance, and repairs multimedia workstations (includes computers/software, vcr/dvd players, audio mixers, multimedia controllers and associated wiring). Coordinates the development and delivery of special multimedia projects, events, and/or presentations, as appropriate to the position. May supervise student staff. Schedules audio and visual equipment usage. Creates and maintains multimedia resource lists; prepares cross-reference indexes as required. Assists classroom technology staff with project management, inventory control and other duties as directed. May perform a variety of routine administrative duties. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of multimedia systems design and installation and troubleshooting/repair techniques. Knowledge of PC and Mac operating systems, Microsoft Office. Knowledge of current technological developments/trends in area of expertise. Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures. Knowledge of audio/video library procedures.
Skills in organizing and prioritizing work assignments. Records maintenance skills.
Ability to set up, calibrate, and operate audio and video equipment. Ability to provide formal and informal instruction to non-technical personnel in the use of computer hardware and/or software. Ability to operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and perform repairs to audio and video equipment. Ability to schedule events and/or facilities usage.
Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- High School diploma or GED certificate.
   Experience- Three (3) years of experience related to the standard duties as outlined.
   Equivalency- Completion of a post-secondary degree or certificate may substitute for years of experience.
