Purpose of Classification:
Under general supervision, codes less complex e-commerce websites using HTML, Visual Basic, or other web-based programming languages. Responsible for maintaining a functioning user-accessible website. May be involved in website planning and deployment. Writes technical documentation regarding the website's technical requirements. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in computer science and two to four years of experience in web development.
Standard Duties:
Creates and maintains web site layout and design. Assesses usability and accessibility of web site designs. Designs web sites for use by individuals with a range of visual, auditory, motor/mobility and cognitive abilities. Consults with content providers regarding graphics requirements. Maintains and edits content and graphic media such as photographs, video and other visual design elements. Participates as a team member in web design projects. Consults with content providers regarding web site development assignments. Assesses usability and accessibility of web sites and updates as required. Assures web sites can be used by individuals with a range of visual, auditory, motor/mobility and cognitive abilities. Implements and maintains web site architecture and enters data into online databases. Maintains and edits web site content. Participates as a team member in web site development projects.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge and understanding of web-based graphic design and layout. Knowledge of web programming software and authoring languages. Knowledge and understanding of internet operations and functionality, and of internet programming and design tools.
Web planning and organizing skills. Research and analytical skills. Skill in computer graphics and layout.
Ability to apply web design principles and techniques to the creation and enhancement of integrated web sites. Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials.
Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
   Experience- Three (3) years of experience directly related to the standard duties as outlined.
