Purpose of Classification: | |
Provides team leadership in support of the university’s enterprise computing database systems used by many important departments at NMSU, including Finance, Payroll, Student Registration, Financial Aid, and others. Plans assignments and trains subordinates in technical aspects of work. Prepares specifications and develops database system diagrams. | |
Standard Duties: | |
Usually works with minimum supervision, conferring with superior on unusual matters. Assignments are broad in nature, usually requiring originality and innovation. Practices a complex technical skillset that involves creating numerous technical processes that are dependent upon accuracy, repeatability, and timeliness. May be assisted by Associate/Intermediate level personnel and coordinate with Senior level personnel. May train or assist Associate or Intermediate level personnel in technical complexities of assigned work. Administers and maintains the Enterprise Resource and Planning (ERP) database environment by establishing and maintaining secure, reliable, and stable databases; coordinating changes to databases. Ensures the enterprise database environments are available, recoverable, and capable of meeting ongoing business needs including logical and physical design. Develops, revises, and implements policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines to effectively administer the database environment and helps to ensure the university is compliant with Federal and State regulated mandates. Identifies, documents, and implements best practices to help mitigate security risks to confidential university data. Provides on-call support and problem resolution for enterprise database systems. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. | |

Minimum Qualifications: | |
Education- Bachelor’s degree in a related field. | |
Experience- Seven (7) years of experience directly related to the standard duties as outlined. | |
