Purpose of Classification:
Under limited supervision, provides oversight of open computer lab. Requires supervision of work study and regular students. May recommend or purchase software for use in the lab. Responsible for ensuring a conducive learning environment in the lab at all times. Advanced customer service skills are needed as this position will work with a diverse population of students.
Standard Duties:
Supervises open computer lab. Responsible for the supervision of work study and regular student employees. Schedules coverage for the lab to ensure staff availability when assistance is needed. Investigates, plans, implements, tests, and debugs operating system software. May implement integrated hardware and software computer and information systems to meet open lab requirements. Provides instruction and training to students on day-to-day procedures. Participates in budget planning, implementation, and monitoring for purchase and maintenance of hardware and software within the lab. Records and maintains hardware and software inventories for the open lab and user access and security. Maintains currency of knowledge with respect to relevant state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and/or systems. Performs problem resolution and provides on-call support for computer/network systems. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of current technological developments/trends in area of expertise. Advanced knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.
Records maintenance skills. Skill in budget preparation and fiscal management. Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
Ability to provide technical guidance and leadership to professional personnel in area of expertise. Ability to analyze operational requirements and assess data processing technology and capacity requirements. Ability to plan, implement, test, and troubleshoot system software. Ability to supervise and train assigned staff. Ability to develop and write systems and applications documentation and guides for users.
Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- High School diploma or GED certificate.
   Experience- One (1) year of experience related to the standard duties as outlined.
   Equivalency- Completion of a post-secondary degree or certificate may substitute for years of experience.
