Purpose of Classification:
Under the general supervision of the Chief Audit Officer, develops and performs activities related to the risk assessment and audits of information technologies (IT), systems, security, procedures, and controls. The position will plan and complete the annual IT audit plan and provide system- wide IT consulting services in addition to planned or special projects. Works with the University’s IT Compliance Officer. Assists in the performance of financial, compliance, and operational audits.
Standard Duties:
Plans and performs a variety of IT audit projects. Performs assessment and assurance of IT systems, procedures, and controls and consulting services for projects relating to systems’ security, audit, and control on all campuses. Assists with IT needs for financial, compliance, and operational audits. May oversee and direct the work of others for assigned IT audits and reviews. Keeps the Chief Audit Executive informed of progress.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Working knowledge of internal control and auditing principles; technical experience in area of information technology concepts, practices, and procedures; and a demonstrated understanding of complex information systems and infrastructure. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Banner, and data extraction and analysis. Understanding of information security standards, best practices for securing computer systems and applicable laws and regulations. Knowledge of current changes and/or developments in applicable federal, state, local laws, and university policies and procedures. Knowledge of record keeping procedures and documentation requirements.
Project management methodology skills. Advanced skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures. Employee development and performance management skills. Skills in using business process analysis, mapping, and documentation. Microsoft office suite and other software skills to quantify and illustrate data, comparisons, impacts, and/or projections. Supervisory and training skills.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, and to present issues for discussion with all levels of University management. Ability to act independently in appraisal and analysis of University operations. Ability to analyze and solve problems. Ability to provide legal depositions and testimony. Ability to foster a cooperative work environment. Ability to work effectively with diverse populations. Ability to persuade and influence others.
Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- Bachelor's degree in computer science, accounting, finance, business computer systems, business administration or related discipline.
   Experience- Four (4) years of professional experience directly related to the standard duties as outlined.
