Purpose of Classification:
Position coordinates crime prevention and victim services between police officers, victims, and victim service providers; Provides direct assistance to victims of violent crimes, to include surviving family members; Develops and implements protocols for handling, interviewing, and assisting victims for the entire institution; Evaluates and develops staffing and security plans for all special events on the NMSU campus; Hiring; Training; Directing and non-commissioned Traffic and Security Personnel. 
Standard Duties:
Position responds to scene of violent crimes and provides direct services or coordination of services to victims; Assist police officers in managing and helping victims, to include finding emergency shelter, food, clothing, medical services, and counseling; Works with multiple NMSU departments and external agencies to develop protocols, plans, and networking to provide services for victim; Assists with case monitoring and reporting for victims; Writes and manages grants related to victim services; Evaluates and develops staffing and security plans for all special events on the NMSU campus; Hiring, training, directing and coordinating non-commissioned Traffic and Security Personnel; and Developing, coordinating and implementing crime prevention programs for the University Community. Develop and assemble security plans for all events on campus and assure they are carried out efficiently and effectively. Responsible for billing for Police Department services as special events, prepare billing documents, send to appropriate departments, create estimates for services. Compile, write, and present reports on operations, services, and outcomes.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge and understanding of principles, procedures, regulations, and standards applicable to the job. Understanding of the University's mission, vision and goals.
Short- and long-term planning; problem analysis and resolution; report preparation and presentation; interpersonal and organizational communication, both oral and written.
Develop and maintain effective working relationships; maintain accurate and orderly records; use independent judgment and initiative; organize and direct activities.
Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- Bachelor degree in Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology, or related field.
   Experience- Two (2) years of experience related to the standard duties as outlined.
