Purpose of Classification:
Develops and coordinates advising and student support services for a designated program. Works toward resolving the most complex student issues. Represents unit on various university committees to initiate change and to resolve issues related to academic services and curriculum requirements. May supervise professional and clerical personnel. Operates at the highest level of independence.
Standard Duties:
Designs, implements, oversees and evaluates an advising program; assesses diverse needs of students who use the advising services and adjusts the structure of the program to address those needs as well as the university mission statement; recommends policy and procedural changes to administrators. Establishes program missions, goals and objectives; prepares a budget; manages available resources (e.g., money, space, staff, supplies) designated for program operation. Makes administrative decisions regarding student petitions, appeals, disqualifications and changes to their degree programs. Advises and counsels students on academic, curricular, career and personal issues; assists Academic Advisors with difficult cases. Conducts recruitment and orientation programs for prospective university students or participants in special programs, such as internships or advanced standing programs. Develops procedures to ensure activities of program are consistent with legal requirements and professional standards. Represents unit on state-wide articulation groups; evaluates courses of other institutions and determine course equivalencies; provides equivalency information to registrar and articulation coordinators. Consults academic unit heads in the creation and maintenance of course edits and professional program codes.

Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
   Experience- Five (5) years of professional experience related to the standard duties as outlined.
