Purpose of Classification:
Directs activities of the university related to international student admissions, visa certification, and study abroad.
Standard Duties:
Supervises international graduate and undergraduate admissions and degree certifications for all graduate levels. Serves as the university's liaison to international recruitment partners, including the development of partnership agreements with institutions and third party recruiters. Responsible for new international student orientation, ensuring that students meet all federal and institutional requirements related to international student enrollment. Responsible for the awarding and renewal of the International Student Waiver and Out-of-State Alumni Scholarship for international students. Serves as advisor for the International Student Organization. Designated F-1 school official and responsible for immigration reporting to Homeland Security and the U.S. Department of State.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of best practices in advising and providing services for international students, scholars and international study programs. Knowledge of health, safety and liability issues involved with planning and administering international programs. Knowledge of U.S. government regulations and policies regarding international students and scholars, and experience with J and F visa programs. Knowledge of student records systems and U.S. government SEVIS program. Knowledge of academic, personal, and other adjustment issues for students and faculty dealing with and/or living in foreign cultures. Knowledge of international and intercultural issues, and the ability to relate to diverse populations. Knowledge of University curriculum and student services procedures.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Skill in budget preparation and fiscal management. Employee development and performance management skills. Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
Ability to develop and deliver presentations. Ability to gather data, analyze information, and prepare reports. Ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goals. Ability to supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments. Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
   Experience- Five (5) years of professional experience related to the standard duties as outlined.
