Purpose of Classification: | |
Directs the provision of counseling services in an integrated health facility. Services provided include: student counseling, employee assistance program, and program director of APA doctoral internship program. | |
Standard Duties: | |
Supervises, directs, delegates, and evaluates work of assigned staff. Oversee the training and supervision of all clinical services in counseling including professionals, pre-doctoral interns, doctoral practicum students and master's practicum students who all provide direct clinical service to clients. Provide clinical services to those clients who need greater expertise or who are at greater risk of harm to self or others or those who present complicated issues that require close oversight and monitoring. Acts as the program director for the APA internship and serves as executive leadership for health and wellness accreditations including IACS and AAAHC. Design and manage all programs delivered by the unit and directly supervise all counseling staff. Oversee the research being conducted in the department; create a range of programs that efficiently meet changing student and campus needs. Work with the Executive Director of Health & Wellness to create appropriate budgets and funding sources, through securing outside grants funds, obtaining support from student fees, or demonstrating need for an expanded I & G budget. Director presence is may be required in times of student deaths or crisis. Counseling Services must work very closely with other campus units to coordinate and provide the best client services. The position is a member of the AHWC executive leadership, CARE, and BIT teams. All service units are required to be evaluated annually through outcome and customer satisfaction measures. University and department policies and procedures; principles and practice of organization and administration; principles of supervision, training, and performance evaluation; and demonstrated experience with and/or commitment to working effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, in support of the development of a multicultural integrated health facility. | |

Direct, evaluate, train, and supervise the work of assigned personnel; develop and maintain effective working relationships; maintain accurate and orderly records; use independent judgment and initiative; organize and direct activities; analyze and evaluate information; be qualified to provide clinical supervision at the highest level and to make complicated clinical decisions that have life and death consequences for clients. | |
Minimum Qualifications: | |
Education- Doctorate degree in related field. | |
Experience- Five (5) years of professional experience directly related to the standard duties as outlined. | |
Equivalency- None | |
Certifications/License- State licensure as a Psychologist. | |
