Purpose of Classification: | |
Responsible for one or several broad-based areas within a medium sized community college's or division's Student Affairs. | |
Standard Duties: | |
Interprets and enforces student affairs policies and procedures as they pertain to the community college or division; monitors and administers processes associated with individual student academic standing, as appropriate, to include probations, suspensions, and/or promotions. Directs and oversees student enrollment activities, to include admissions, registration, financial aid and scholarships, student records, and data collection. Directs and oversees academic advisement, career counseling, and student discipline programs; provides guidance and support as appropriate for various student life activities. Establishes and implements short- and long-range organizational goals, objectives, strategic plans, policies, and operating procedures; monitors and evaluates programmatic and operational effectiveness, and effects changes required for improvement. Oversees all facets of the daily operations of the organizational unit, ensuring compliance with the University, state, and federal laws, policies, and regulations. Oversees the supervision of personnel, which includes work allocation, training, promotion and enforcement of internal procedures and controls, and problem resolution; evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions; motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance. Develops and manages annual budgets for the organization and performs periodic cost and productivity analyses. Oversees and directs the planning and development of student information documents and promotional materials, may include college catalogs and student handbooks. Researches and prepares integrated reports on department fiscal and operational activities and on student costs.Represents the organization at various community and/or business meetings, committees, and task forces; promotes existing and new programs and/or policies. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. | |
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: | |
Knowledge of financial/business analysis techniques. Knowledge of the procedures and processes associated with the development and dissemination of curriculum catalogs and student handbooks. Knowledge and understanding of student career and academic advisement principles, methods, and procedures at the college level. Knowledge of faculty and/or staff hiring procedures. Knowledge and understanding of a range of student life issues and concerns. Knowledge and understanding of the integrated functions of college-level registrar, admissions, financial aid, and student affairs. Knowledge of academic standards governing student probation, suspension, and/or expulsion. | |
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Skill in budget preparation and fiscal management. Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications. Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures. Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities. Employee development and performance management skills. | |
Ability to develop and maintain recordkeeping systems and procedures. Ability to gather and analyze statistical data and generate reports. Minimum Qualifications: | |
Education- Master's Degree in a related field. | |
Experience- Five (5) years of related professional experience. | |
