Purpose of Classification:
Plans, develops, implements, and manages an active co-curriculum for students. Coordinates a wide variety of student activities including scheduling and facilitation of events, development and production of publications, and direct interaction with student groups. Administers and interprets policies with respect to student organizations. Participates in the planning and development of student leadership programs. May serve as an advisor to student organizations.
Standard Duties:
Develops, coordinates, implements, and evaluates special programs, projects, and events activities designed to promote student development; prepares advertising and promotional materials, and oversees safety, crowd control, and related issues. Develops, plans, implements, and evaluates all aspects of a comprehensive student leadership program for various student groups; researches, designs, prepares, and presents lectures and training to student groups on a wide range of management and leadership topics. Plans and facilitates special events for students, such as concerts, lectures, fairs, seminars, and workshops; coordinates event infrastructure, to include hospitality, transportation, scheduling, and staffing, as appropriate. Consults and conducts preliminary contract and fee negotiations with artists, managers, and/or agents; reviews/screens artist materials and performances, as appropriate; reviews contracts for liability, litigation venue, and payment issues, and prepares for authorization.Develops and monitors event budgets, and performs cost analyses and reviews. Develops and presents educational programs and consultations for student groups, organizations, departments, and external groups, as appropriate, on aspects of university policy and procedure. Produces periodic financial reports and activity reports on accomplishments, goals, and objectives. Represents the organization at various community and/or business meetings, committees, and task forces; promotes existing and new programs and/or policies. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of fraternity/sorority systems, culture and conventions. Knowledge of student development and activity programs and activities at the college level. Knowledge of public events safety and crowd control principles, procedures, regulations, and standards. Knowledge of general accounting principles.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities. Skill in budget preparation and fiscal management.
Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to utilize advertising and/or sales promotion techniques and facilitate a range of special events. Ability to deliver lectures and training on a wide variety of management skills issues. Ability to develop and present educational programs and/or workshops. Ability to negotiate and manage contractual arrangements.
Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
   Experience- One (1) year of experience related to the standard duties as outlined.
