Purpose of Classification:
Coordinates academic studies conducted outside the United States, advises students and faculty on international study and travel and promotes campus activities of an international nature.
Standard Duties:
Responsible for one or several broad-based areas within the division of International & Border Programs (IBP). The position reports directly to the Associate Provost of IBP; assists in achieving the institution's goals pertaining to comprehensive internationalization established by the President and Board of Regents; assist the Associate Provost for IBP in providing administrative leadership and organization for all components of the division; assist in monitoring programs; assist in promoting the university's strategic plan, and student goals.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of various types of international programs and systems, both as managed abroad and at U.S. universities. Organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures in a comprehensive international programs office. Experience with both incoming international, and outgoing domestic students. Knowledge and experience with both U.S. and international faculty; undergraduate students and programs; and graduate students and programs. Knowledge and understanding of international higher education practices and cultural variances. Knowledge of financial/business analysis techniques. Understanding of evaluation, design, and implementation of curriculum, testing, and/or teaching methodologies. Knowledge of applicable legislation, standards, policies and procedures within specialty area. Knowledge of faculty and/or staff hiring procedures.
Strong entrepreneurial and negotiation skills (salesmanship), as well as requisite interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Creative ability, particularly as applied to marketing and conveying new ideas and projects (marketing). Ability to work with all higher education constituents -students, faculty, and administrators of all levels. Records maintenance skills. Skill in budget preparation and fiscal management. Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures. Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities. Advanced verbal and written communication skills and familiarity with digital media and design and their importance in sales and marketing. Employee development and performance management skills.
Ability to think creatively and apply those skills to creative, new proposals and projects while maintaining confidence and good relations with external stakeholders and clients. Ability to use independent judgement and to manage and impart information to a range of clientele and/or media sources. Ability to identify and secure alternative funding/revenue sources. Ability to foster a cooperative work environment. Ability to understand the needs of both international and domestic faculty and students.
Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
   Experience- Five (5) years of professional experience directly related to the standard duties as outlined.
   Equivalency- None.
