Purpose of Classification: | |
Recruits and advises foreign students and coordinates academic studies for foreign students on campus. | |
Standard Duties: | |
This position plays a key role in efforts to help grow and support the international community and plays a critical leadership role in the Office of International and Border Programs. The position reports to the Associate Provost for International and Border Programs and responsibilities include: Lead, direct, and advise on all matters pertaining to international student and scholar services - including international student recruiting - always with the intention of supporting the university's comprehensive internationalization goals. Lead and direct institutional compliance with U.S. Department of State and U.S. Department of Homeland Security regulations as they pertain to the F and J visa programs. Direct day-to-day activities of the Office of ISSS. Direct institutionalization and improvement of international student support and services. | |
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: | |
Knowledge of organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures in an ISSS office. Knowledge of new international student assimilation issues. Knowledge and understanding of international higher education practices and cultural variances. Knowledge of financial/business analysis techniques. Knowledge of applicable legislation, standards, policies and procedures within specialty area. | |
Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Record maintenance skills. Skill in budget preparation and fiscal management. Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures. Minimum Qualifications: | |
Education- Bachelor's degree in a related field. | |
Experience- Five (5) years of progressively responsible leadership experience in international student services administration to include experience as a Designated School Official or Principal Designated School Official. | |
