Purpose of Classification:
Oversees all aspects of the Center for English Language Programs. Responsible for meeting the non-credit English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) needs for all types of programs.
Standard Duties:
Lead, direct, and advise the campus community and other constituents on matters pertaining to the institutionalization and improvement of English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) services - always with the intention of supporting the university's comprehensive internationalization goals. Direct day-to-day activities of the CELP Office.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of both academic and administrative management of a comprehensive service ESOL office, including national and international academic best-practice trends, mainstream methods of ESOL testing, organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures. Knowledge of new international student ESOL academic and cultural integration issues. Knowledge and understanding of international higher education practices and cultural variances. Knowledge of financial/business analysis techniques.
Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new programs. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Records maintenance skills. Skill in budget preparations and fiscal management. Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities. Advanced verbal and written communication skills. Outstanding interpersonal and community relation skills. Employee development and performance management skills.
Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart information to a range of clientele and/or media sources. Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- Master's degree in a related field.
   Experience- Five (5) years of professional experience directly related to the standard duties as outlined.
   Equivalency- None.
   Certifications/License- ESOL teaching certificate
