| Purpose of Classification: | |
| Responsible for managing technology transfer activities relating to scientific discoveries and inventions. Participates in setting and interpreting policy pertaining to technology transfer activities; interacts with intellectual property counsel retained by University. Through the Arrowhead Center executive management, keeps the institution's senior administration or governing board informed about these activities. | |
| Standard Duties: | |
| Educate faculty, research staff, and students about the development and protection of intellectual property. Work with outside counsel to develop patents and secure licenses; draft and negotiate term sheets, licenses, and other agreements. Advise the VP for Research and VP for Economic Development on potential licensing agreements; Budget and monitor patent costs. | |
| Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: | |
| Knowledge of various aspects intellectual property commercialization, licensing agreements. | |
| Outstanding leadership, management, and interpersonal skills to relate to a wide diversity of faculty, staff, students and community members. | |
| Work effectively under general direction or guidelines with minimal supervision or instruction and in a supportive role to others. | |
| Minimum Qualifications: | |
| Education- Bachelor's degree in a related field. | |
| Experience- Seven (7) years of professional experience related to the standard duties as outlined. | |
