Purpose of Classification:
Assists center staff in encouraging and enabling active parent participation in all aspects of the Head Start program.
Standard Duties:
Assists in designing and implementing an effective parent involvement plan that meets the identified needs and interests of parents in the program. Assists program staff with dissemination of information to parents, implementation of parent activities; (reminds parents of parent meetings, activities, events or field trips, either by phone or in person and distributes all parent information as needed); notifies parents of Parent Policy Council and center parent meetings and assists the teacher with center parent meetings, provide child care for policy council, parent meetings, workshops and parent education trainings, handing out agendas; ensures all parents sign-in; sees that in-kind forms are completed and signed by Parent volunteers; complete monthly attendance documentation and follow-up with parents on absenteeism; records parent contact and submit contact log to the Parent Involvement Coordinator, on a weekly basis; completes records for all parent involvement activities; performs related duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Basic knowledge of office practices and procedures; recordkeeping; office machine and equipment.
Basic math skills; documentation, organizational and coordinating skills; interpersonal skills.
Must have ability to read and follow oral and written instructions; keeps accurate records; maintains confidential information; establishes and maintains effective working relationships with employees, faculty, staff and general public.
Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- High School diploma or GED certificate.
   Experience- No previous work experience required.
