Purpose of Classification:
Support the mission of the UAS team.
Standard Duties:
Under supervision performs work that is varied and that may be somewhat difficult in character, but usually involves limited responsibility. The incumbent is responsible for the pre-flight checkouts of the aircraft, performing take-offs and landings, developing, and providing training to other team members, cross training on other UAS team positions and providing support for business development, including drafting papers, procedures or articles as needed. Additionally, as part of the UAS team, system and equipment, packing, set-up, breakdown and system/sensor testing will be an important part of the position. Mission development and execution in support of organizational and other customer requirements may require day or night operations and might include weekend operations and deployments.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated knowledge of UAS operations, requirements and restrictions of flying in U.S. Airspace. Desired experience in understanding, developing, and translating user requirements to develop a detailed plan and for execution of operations. Must have experience in developing and monitoring individual training plans for varying positions. Demonstrated experience as an external pilot of at least one UAS system including a General Dynamics/Aeronautics Defense System Aerostar including pre-flight checks, take-offs, landings and emergency situations. Demonstrated experience of cross training on other UAS operational positions/functions.

Ability to visualize, design, and execute within the context of the intelligence spectrum, business development plans, user requirements and academic programs. These activities should be constants throughout the lifecycle of the position. Ability to perform physical set-up, breakdown and pack-up of entire UAS system. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Demonstrated ability to operate as part of a team to achieve team objectives and goals.
Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
   Experience- Three (3) years of experience directly related to the standard duties as outlined.
   Equivalency- Any equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience as approved by Human Resource Services.
   Certifications/License- Must complete FAA Pilot ground school and obtain a Class II FAA Medical certificate within 30 days of hire date.
