Purpose of Classification: | |
As an individual researcher or consultant, serves as an authority and recognized leader, nationally or internationally in a area of research, development, test and evaluation or in a narrow but highly specialized field. Makes authoritative decisions and recommendations that have a major impact on extensive research, development, test and evaluation activities. Exercises a high degree of creativity, foresight, and advanced judgment in planning, organizing, and guiding extensive programs and activities of outstanding novelty and/or importance. | |
Standard Duties: | |
Develops model concepts and approaches as an individual research, development, test and evaluation expert and acts independently on technical matters. Makes authoritative decisions and recommendations that have a major impact on extensive research activities and result in national and/or international recognition. Acts as an authority in a narrow but intensely specialized field. | |
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: | |
Authoritative and advanced knowledge of research, development, est and evaluation, and/or concepts and theories in area of specialty. Posses knowledge required to make effective decisions or to prioritize work. | |
Highly specialized skill in developing designs, approaches, and hypothesis related to complex scientific or technology problems. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse but highly specialized community. | |
Possess requisite knowledge that underlies effective decision-making ability to design, organize, and coordinate research, development, test and evaluation projects. Ability to develop and deliver presentations. Ability to develop scientific reports and manuscripts based on original research. Ability to plan, develop, and coordinate multiple projects. Ability to plan, develop, and manage highly influential and/or groundbreaking research projects in area of expertise. Ability to use independent judgment to develop model concepts and approaches for research. Ability to utilize advanced computer statistical and technical applications. | |
Minimum Qualifications: | |
Education- Bachelors degree in related field; may be expected to have a related master's or higher degree. | |
Experience- Twelve (12) years of professional experience as a subject matter expert/consultant at a senior level. | |
Equivalency- Associate's degree in a technical field and years of experience may be substituted for a degree in specialized approved cases and/or any equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience as approved by Human Resrouce Services. | |
