| Purpose of Classification: | |
| Performs a wide variety of unskilled and semi-skilled tasks in relation to one or more specific phases of field/laboratory research or departmental project. Assists or completes routine laboratory procedures under the direct supervision of senior staff members. | |
| Standard Duties: | |
| Under close supervision, performs routine field/laboratory data collection; may assist in assembling test apparatus and equipment; may take and record instrument readings; may assist in the preparation and care of laboratory specimens, equipment, animals, slides, and models; may feed and care for farm animals; may operate farm equipment and other vehicles such as trucks and sedans, and perform manual labor duties applicable to farm/research/departmental work; may give simple verbal and/or written reports to appropriate personnel; may brief project personnel on basic operating and safety procedures; may perform basic clerical functions such as filing, taking messages, and answering telephone; performs related work as assigned. | |
| Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: | |
| Knowledge of laboratory procedures; knowledge in solving problems maintain accurate and orderly records; knowledge of QA/QC procedures. | |
| Good interpersonal skills; skills in oral and written communication analyzing and evaluating data. | |
| Ability to follow instructions and pay attention to details; ability to work from written procedures without deviation; ability to function well in a team environment. | |
| Minimum Qualifications: | |
| Education- High School diploma or GED certificate. | |
| Experience- No previous work experience required. | |
| Equivalency- None | |
| Certifications/License- Position may require NM Driving License or CDL license. | |
