Purpose of Classification:
Perform telescope and instrument preparations, troubleshooting and repair. Includes computer operations, some programming, and data analysis. Back up CDL driver with ordering, purchasing and hauling of hazardous materials. Also includes plate plugging operations as backup and as needed.
Standard Duties:
Supervise, direct, delegate, and evaluate work of assigned staff. Prepares telescope and instruments for nightly operations. Performs electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and repair. Performs data analysis, instrument and telescope daytime operation, marking, plugging and mapping spectrographic plates. Requires use of material handling equipment, computers and hand tools. Perform related duties as required

Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
   Experience- One (1) year of experience related to the standard duties as outlined.
   Equivalency- Any equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience as approved by Human Resource Services.
   Certifications/License- CDL w/Hazmat Endorsement within 1 year (which is subject to random drug testing).
