Purpose of Classification:
Establishes and manages integrated training and development strategies and programs for a major activity or operating component of the University. Develops and implements strategic needs analyses and training plans for the organization; coordinates and evaluates curriculum development, and oversees the preparation and delivery of training.
Standard Duties:
Identifies the various strategic and operational training/development needs and issues of the organization; works with management to establish responsive training and development strategies and plans. Oversees the development and delivery of individual and/or group training and instructional programs, based on established plans, and encompassing a wide range of technical, operational, and/or management skill areas. Oversees and coordinates the development and preparation of teaching and visual aids, instructional materials, computer tutorials, and reference materials appropriate to specific program objectives. Utilizes relevant evaluation data to revise or recommend changes in instructional objectives and methods. Oversees all facets of the daily operations of the organizational unit, ensuring compliance with the University, state, and federal laws, policies, and regulations. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge and understanding of adult learning principles, and of a wide range of training methods, techniques, and formats. Knowledge of computerized information systems. Knowledge of management principles and practices.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Records maintenance skills. Advanced verbal and written communication skills. Employee development and performance management skills.
Ability to gather and analyze statistical data and generate reports. Ability to identify and interpret strategic and operational training/development needs.
Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
   Experience- Eight (8) years of increasingly progressive management experience in one or more areas that report to this position.
