Purpose of Classification:
The Community Engagement Coordinator will provide leadership and outreach that will result in improved communication and relations with the community. Provides coordination, facilitation, and support for community engagement and activities.
Standard Duties:
Provide outreach with potential community partners through personal visits, social media, planned activities and ongoing press releases and media coverage of activities. Develop and maintain an inventory/data base of partnerships as a resource for faculty and staff in the College. Work with the departmental internship supervisors, chairs and faculty to foster new and innovative partnerships with community agencies and individuals at local and state levels. Produce an annual report of partnerships and activities for our community stakeholder audience and other interested parties that include the imputed value of experiential learning to the community. Collaborate with leadership and development office to identify, plan and develop conferences, meetings and engagement activities that are of mutual benefit to the community, the college and NMSU. Maintain an ongoing calendar of events and college projects for both community partners and faculty/staff. Develop a methodology to systematically and periodically measure the outcomes and consequences of the community engagement activities and program, both for those associated with NMSU and its partners in the community. Work with Department and College Promotion and Tenure committees to assist faculty in going beyond community engagement and demonstrating the scholarship of engagement, recognized by Boyer and the foundation of NMSU’s P&T policy.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge and understanding of principles, procedures, regulations, and standards applicable to the job. Understanding of training needs assessment principles, processes, and techniques. Knowledge of community resources. Understanding of the University’s mission, vision and goals.
Skills in short- and long-term planning; problem analysis and resolution; report preparation and presentation; Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with diplomacy; maintain accurate and orderly records; use independent judgment and initiative; organize and direct activities. Ability to develop and present community engagement activities. Ability to gather data, analyze information, and prepare reports. Ability to work with diverse population.
Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- Bachelors Degree in related field
   Experience- Five (5) years of professional experience related to the standard duties as outlined.
