Purpose of Classification: | |
Under general supervision, oversees and coordinates the staging of events. Manages supporting facilities and equipment, which may include staging equipment, sound and lighting equipment, scenery, and other related inventory. Serves as on-site production representative during the staging, rehearsal and performance of events. | |
Standard Duties: | |
Prepares for and oversees the staging of theatrical productions including the operation of all staging equipment and facilities as appropriate for individual performances. Trains, coordinates, and supervises students engaged in the staging of theatrical productions; trains and advises staff in the application of staging techniques. Maintains an inventory of materials and equipment needed for the operation of performance spaces; creates and implements a program of preventive maintenance, making or contracting for repairs as directed. May provide billing information to department and rental clients; may maintain contracts with rental clients, as appropriate. Ensures adherence to established University and departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, and safety standards. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. | |
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: | |
Knowledge of building design, construction, and maintenance. Knowledge of cost analysis techniques. Knowledge of organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures. Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control. Knowledge of theater and/or public events staging procedures, techniques and facilities. | |
Organizing and coordinating skills. Records maintenance skills. Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures. Skill in utilizing building security and lock systems and procedures. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Technical leadership and supervisory skills within area of expertise. | |
Ability to coordinate quality assurance programs in area of specialty. Ability to coordinate the maintenance and repair of staging facilities, equipment, and supplies. Ability to monitor and/or maintain quality control standards. Ability to operate, troubleshoot, and perform routine repairs on a range of staging equipment and facilities. Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork. Ability to resolve customer complaints and concerns. Ability to schedule events and/or facilities usage. Ability to supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments. Ability to work both independently and in a team environment. | |
Minimum Qualifications: | |
Education- Bachelor's degree in a related field. | |
Experience- No previous work experience required. | |
Equivalency- Any equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience as approved by Human Resource Services. | |
