Purpose of Classification:
Assists the Associate Dean/Director of the Agricultural Experiment Station to provide support and direction for the College’s research enterprise, which includes 12 Agricultural Science Centers (ASC). Collaborates with the Cooperative Extension Service (CES) and Academic Programs to enhance the tripartite mission of the College of ACES.
Standard Duties:
Provide support for internal and external competitive grants, federal capacity building programs, commodity stakeholders liaison, and strategic planning and analysis. Prioritize projects and supporting resources to enhance the research infrastructure of the College of ACES. Provide leadership for the Agricultural Science Centers (ASC) located throughout the state. Coordinate sustainable maintenance and operations plans for buildings, facilities, and equipment of on- and off-campus AES agricultural research locations, including the 12 ASCs. Develop and implement processes needed to increase on-campus researcher use of off-campus research facilities. Serves as the primary contact for the Office of Facilities and Services for ASC facilities. Coordinates and develops plans to respond to issues raised in safety or other inspection reports. Improve the capacity for research at ASCs through a variety of possible partnerships. Facilitate the development of new applied research projects at the ASCs. Seek funding for ASC infrastructure and activities. Facilitate collaborative research between departments and off-campus ASCs. Promote the awareness of the ASCs mission in the local communities. Assist with dissemination of ASC information. Cooperate and contribute with the Center of Excellence in Sustainable Food and Agricultural Systems. Provide mentorship for ASC superintendents, farm managers, and faculty. Encourage on-campus researchers and develop plans to utilize off-campus research facilities. Meet and form collaborations with internal and external stakeholders and stakeholder groups, industry representatives, civic organizations, and other appropriate organizations and/or individuals necessary to accomplish the responsibilities. Assist AES to fulfill its mission by developing and implementing long-range plans for the ASCs, providing oversight of the ASC baseline systems, co-supervising AES fiscal and physical operations, interacting with multiple academic and Extension departments, operational units, and administration across the college and university, coordinating research activities with research professionals located on and off campus, and participating in annual planning with ASC personnel. Cooperate with CES and Academic Programs to enhance academic and Extension activities, particularly as they relate to research. Support general AES administration. Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of university and department policies and procedures. Knowledge of the principles and practices of organization and administration; principles of supervision, training and performance evaluation. Knowledge of laboratory and field research; university structure and function.
Skill in short- and long-range planning; problem analysis and resolution; report preparation and presentation; public contact and relations; oral and written communication; technical and general writing; proposal writing.

Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- Earned terminal degree in a directly related discipline and tenured or tenurable at the rank of assc professor or professor.
