Purpose of Classification:
Assists the Associate Dean of Cooperative Extension in the development, administration, and promotion of Cooperative Extension Services programs.
Standard Duties:
Provides technical advice, problem-solving assistance, answers to questions regarding program goals, and policy interpretation. Manages and evaluates the design, development, and coordination of projects.  Participates in committees and task forces designed to improve the quality of service to students and co-workers. Participates in training programs and professional development workshops and conferences. Supervises, hires, trains, and evaluates assigned staff. Works with employees to correct deficiencies and recommends and implements corrective action and discipline. Conducts surveys/studies relevant to organizational management. Benchmarks with other institutions and to research policies and strategies. Completes reports related to recruitment, special programs, and professional development. Conducts research as appropriate to projects or initiatives within the work unit. Assists the Director in preparing and monitoring departmental goals. Develops objectives and activities based on department goals. Prepares or coordinates preparation of financial and administrative reports; analyzes and interprets statistics, financial data, and management planning data for predicting resource needs and developing long range plans. Conducts and assists with the development of long- and short-range goals. Serves as representative of the University at state, regional and national organizations, boards, councils, and committees as assigned. Acts as liaison with the community, students, faculty, and staff in facilitating university programs. Develops, maintains, and implements department policies and procedures.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of university and department policies and procedures. Knowledge of the principles and practices of organization and administration; principles of supervision, training and performance evaluation. Knowledge of laboratory and field research; university structure and function.
Skill in short- and long-range planning; problem analysis and resolution; report preparation and presentation; public contact and relations; oral and written communication; technical and general writing; proposal writing.
Ability to direct, evaluate, train and supervise the work of assigned personnel; develop and maintain effective working relationships; maintain accurate and orderly records; use independent judgment and initiative; organize and direct activities; analyze and evaluate information; respond quickly to requests from university administrators, legislators and stakeholders; communicate verbally and in writing about technical topics to general audience.
Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- Master's degree in a related field.
   Experience- Eight (8) years of increasingly progressive management experience in one or more areas that report to this position.
