Purpose of Classification:
Plans and implements Cooperative Extension Service programming to the community in NM counties in the areas of 4-H and Youth Development, Agricultural and Family and Consumer Sciences. Educates, facilitates, and provides leadership and guidance to Extension educational programs to youth and adult leaders, special interest groups, and the county communities. Develop effective and contemporary approaches to plan, deliver and evaluate programming.
Standard Duties:
Plans and coordinates the development, implementation, and execution of a CES program, designed to achieve the overall mission, goals, and objectives of the program. Provides educational leadership and guidance to Extension educational programs in agriculture for 4-H and youth, special interest groups, adult and youth leaders, the public and natural resource areas throughout the county, as job requires. Identify, recruit and develop the volunteer adult and youth leaders. Develop regular and effective communications and working relationships with colleagues, partners and stakeholders within the community. Quantify, communicate and promote the value of Extension education to key stakeholders, partners and decision-makers. Supports county fair efforts. Provides timely reports and program plans as required. Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of techniques and procedures required in teaching techniques and skills. Knowledge of mass media and computer skills desirable. Ability to take direction and work independently. Demonstrated professional knowledge and operational expertise within designated area of program focus
Communication and basic teaching skills. Ability to communicate with youth and adults. Strong communication, leadership, mentoring, teamwork and group process skills
Ability to establish and maintain a congenial working relationship with children, associates and the public; follow oral and written instructions; establish effective relationships as a teacher; work in a self-contained or team teaching situation; supervise subordinates; deal with children one-on-one and in groups. Ability to work with diverse audiences and stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
   Experience- No previous work experience required.
