Purpose of Classification:
Under general supervision, develops and implements health education and promotion initiatives for collegiate health and wellness program. Provides specialized education, training, and technical coordination within an area of critical health and wellness-related concerns to professional provider groups, and/or community programs, and on campus and off campuses communities. Serves as the program lead for IRB submission, survey and assessment design, implementation and data analysis. Assesses needs, and designs, develops, and delivers workshops, informational material, and/or special programs to meet community need. Serves as a primary point of contact for both internal and external representation and liaison with respect to program development, compliance, and implementation of health education plans and objectives. Provides independent consultation and advice to professional health care providers, and/or educators, academic programs and groups on specific health education topics and requirements.
Standard Duties:
Assists in planning, coordination, development, implementation and execution of a set of multiple health education topics, programs, and projects and other initiatives designed to achieve the overall mission, goals, and objectives of the health education program. Performs training and education needs assessments for individual community constituencies, as appropriate to the objectives of the program. Designs, develops, and delivers training programs and workshops to health care professionals working within community programs. Provides independent technical advice, consultation, and individualized assistance to health care providers on specific requirements, and on education methods and techniques within an area of professional specialty. Assesses local and state educational resources within area of professional expertise, and designs and develops special programs for resources development as appropriate. Represents the University with respect to program activities on local, regional, and state level. Adheres to best practice standards for national and collegiate health education and promotion. Develops and produces special educational literature and information packages for dissemination to community programs, in accordance with need. Participates in State committees and advisory boards, and contributes to the development of policies and program initiatives related to statewide education within area of professional specialty. Coordinates the collection, compilation, and analysis of program activity data; develops, writes, edits, and presents comprehensive statistical and program reports and evaluations. Oversees supervision of student personnel and academic internships, which may include work allocation, training, promotion and enforcement of internal procedures and controls and problem resolution; evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions; motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated professional knowledge and experience within the area of health education and promotion. Program planning, development, implementation, and leadership skills. Knowledge and understanding of training needs assessment principles, processes, and techniques. Knowledge and understanding of the therapeutic and/or development needs of the specified patient population. Knowledge of community health and wellness programs. Knowledge of available community clinical and educational resources within area of specialty.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Professional skills and expertise in a specified therapeutic field. Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
Ability to plan, develop, coordinate and present educational programs and/or workshops. Ability to provide independent advice and guidance to health care professionals within area of expertise. Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials. Ability to determine informational needs, to collect and analyze information, and to devise and develop analysis and reports.
Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
   Experience- Three (3) years professional experience related to standard duties as outlined. Master’s degree in related field may substitute for 2 years of experience.
   Equivalency- None
   Certifications/License- May require discipline-specific licensure and/or professional certification, as specified by the department in the preferences.
