Purpose of Classification:
Plans, designs, and conducts research to aide in the interpretation of economic relationships and in the solution of problems arising from production and distribution of goods and services and other socioeconomic data. Responds to internal and external requests for information and maintains comprehensive databases. Utilizes models to perform economic analyses and impact studies. Writes and prepares technical reports and publications.
Standard Duties:
Researches, analyzes, interprets, and prepares technical reports summarizing socioeconomic data. Maintains comprehensive personal computer databases. Develops and/or manages the development of research methodology and sources of information. Responds or manages the response to data requests from government agencies, private business, the university community, and the general public. Writes and prepares technical reports and publications. Prepares or assists in the preparation of proposals and grants. May support senior economists or other specialists in their research and development of databases; may lead and or guide others performing related work. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of contracts and grants preparation and management.
Skill in the configuration and use of computerized database programs
Ability to analyze and interpret economic data requests and to develop statistical reports and correspondence. Ability to develop and follow research methodology and protocol. Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports. Knowledge and understanding of a wide range of economic, socioeconomic, and econometric theories. Ability to write reports containing technical information. Ability to develop scientific reports and manuscripts based on original research. Ability to determine data interrelationships within and/or between computer databases.
Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- Master's degree in a related field.
   Experience- Three (3) years of professional experience related to the standard duties as outlined.
