Purpose of Classification:
Supports planning and implementation of economic development initiatives for the University, to include strategic and tactical planning, communications, business, government and community relations, proposal preparation in related areas of activity. Initiates projects and programs and coordinates the implementation and completion in collaboration with appropriate senior leadership and staff. Develops new funding streams for economic development.
Standard Duties:
Supports the process of developing, refining, and monitoring and reporting on the implementation of strategic economic development initiatives. Provides information, consultation, and assistance to the various components in the development of strategic plans that complement and support the overall mission of the Arrowhead Center and the University. Develops and implements a consistent, effective plan to increase University visibility in specific economic development initiatives in order to further the mission and goals of the University and position the institution as a major force in the business community and development activities. Monitors emerging local, State, and Federal legislative issues and measures relating to the economic development that may have potential impact on the University's mission, goals, and/or operations; recommends strategies for advocating the University position on this issue. Prepares and/or contributes to the preparation of proposals, reports, briefings, presentations, and responses related to economic development. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of business and economic development principles, practices, and methodology. Knowledge of marketing and public relations principles, methods, media, and techniques. Knowledge and understanding of the core mission, objectives, and functions of a public university.
Advanced analytical and critical thinking skills. Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures. Advanced interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively work with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community. Strategic planning and leadership skills. Advanced verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present effectively to small and large groups.
Ability to compile, analyze, interpret, and integrate information and to prepare and present complex reports, statements, and other materials.
Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
   Experience- Three (3) years of professional experience related to the standard duties as outlined.
