Purpose of Classification: | |
Under the direction of the Associate Vice President for Research Integrity coordinates the development, implementation, and evaluation of the research integrity and compliance activities and/or training programs pertaining to the responsible conduct of research, conflict of interest, and research involving humans, animals and biosafety. Ensures that programs comply with federal, state, and university policies and procedures pertinent to research integrity and ethics, involving subjects previously named. | |
Standard Duties: | |
Coordinates the development, management, implementation, and evaluation of projects and/or training programs pertinent to the research integrity and compliance activities, and training programs ; pertaining to the responsible conduct of research, conflict of interest, and research involving humans, animals and biosafety. Coordinates the development and implementation of the technological, and educational outreach/training required by federal, state, and university policies and procedures pertinent to research integrity and ethics, and research involving human subjects, the use of animals, and biosafety. Plans and conducts various integrated programs, seminars, and/or outreach activities designed to increase the visibility of the Office of Research Integrity. Participates in short-and long-range planning according to the area of expertise in the establishment and implementation of the unit's goals and objectives. With the use of technology, develops and implements processes to gather and analyze data and prepare various reports. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with all faculty, staff, and students as appropriate. Recommends changes in procedures, when appropriate. Under general supervision, may lead special projects and assignments. Provides support to other areas in the coordination, development and implementation of activities and training programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and university regulations involving the Institutional Review Board (IRB), the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), and the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC).Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. | |
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: | |
Knowledge and understanding of the role, function, and procedures of the IRB, the IACUC, and the IBC. Familiarity with Federal laws governing ethical principles of conduct in such areas as research with human subjects, animals, and biosafety; experience in evaluation of educational curriculums; Knowledge of IT processes, internal controls and risk assessment. | |
Short and long term strategic planning; problem analysis and resolution; report preparation and presentation; interpersonal and organizational communication, both oral and written. Excellent oral communication skills for presentations; knowledge of the university educational and training systems. | |
Ability to provide guidance, technical leadership, and direction to faculty, staff, and students within the area of expertise. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships and to foster a cooperative work environment; Ability to maintain accurate and orderly records; ability to use independent judgment and initiative and to plan and evaluate programs. Ability to organize and direct activities, to exercise leadership in identifying, prioritizing, and implementing projects and to develop and deliver presentations and training. Ability to analyze complex problems, interpret operational needs, and develop integrated, creative solutions. | |
