Purpose of Classification: | |
Plans and coordinates the day-to –day fiscal, administrative and operational activities for the University Art Museum. This position serves as the administrative liaison for program marketing and reporting. | |
Standard Duties: | |
Under general supervision, may help with the coordination of complex installation and de-installation of art exhibitions. May assist with preparatory work on exhibitions, as well as the packing, maintenance and security of collections. May assist with updating the UAM web presence. Supervises event operations including the management of all equipment and materials, and functions as the on-site production representative. Instructor of record for Art Internships in the gallery/museum. Teach all relevant museum practices related to equipment types and uses, facilities maintenance and upkeep, handling of artwork, shipping and receiving works of art. Promotion, marketing, event planning and collections care. Hires and oversees work study students for gallery duties. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. | |
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: | |
University and department policies and procedures; principles and practices of organization and administration; Filemaker Pro. Knowledge of communication principles, media, and marketing techniques. Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control procedures. | |
Museum registrarial methods; exhibition installation; problem analysis and resolution; public contact. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications. Records maintenance skills. Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities. Advanced writing and editorial skills. Clerical, word processing, and/or office skills. | |

Minimum Qualifications: | |
Education- Bachelor's degree in a related field. | |
Experience- Two (2) years of experience related to the standard duties as outlined. | |
Equivalency- Any equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience as approved by Human Resource Services. | |
