Purpose of Classification:
Provide nutrition education to ICAN eligible participants.
Standard Duties:
Plan, prepare, shop for and travel to ICAN classes. Teach multiple series of classes to recruited groups of adults and youth, using approved nutrition curricula. Recruit and organize groups of individuals with limited income and from minority populations. Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with individuals and agencies that can assist in reaching the ICAN target audience. Collect and document required ICAN program information, including the administration of outcome evaluation. Training for ICAN nutrition educator.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of limited income families and minority populations. Knowledge of community resources. Knowledge of nutrition facts, recruiting techniques, teaching techniques, and food preparation techniques.
Proficient with computer skills such as internet, email, word processing, data entry, and data file organization. Listening skills, writing skills, verbal communication.
Ability to establish and maintain a congenial working relationship with Cooperative Extension professionals, program assistants, other educators and the public. Ability to follow oral and written instructions, follow all program policies and procedures, keep records and complete reports, organize and use time efficiently, work in a self contained situation. Ability to interact patiently and effectively with children and adults on one-on-one and in group settings.
Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- High School diploma or GED.
   Experience- Two (2) years of related experience.
   Equivalency- Completion of a post-secondary degree or certificate may substitute for years of experience.
