Purpose of Classification:
Conducts QA surveillance of regulatory laboratory procedures and to monitor the quality of products and test results being produced. Also performs QA material testing as assigned.
Standard Duties:
Conduct routine and non-routine analyses of in-process materials, raw materials, environmental samples, finished goods, or stability samples. Calibrate, validate, or maintain laboratory equipment. Compile laboratory test data and perform appropriate analyses. Complete documentation needed to support testing procedures including data capture forms, equipment logbooks, or inventory forms. Evaluate analytical methods and procedures to determine how they might be improved. Identify quality problems and recommend solutions. Interpret test results, compare them to established specifications and control limits, and make recommendations on appropriateness of data for release. Investigate or report questionable test results. Monitor testing procedures to ensure that all tests are performed according to established item specifications, standard test methods, or protocols. Participate in out-of-specification and failure investigations and recommend corrective actions. Serves as a principal liaison between students, faculty, staff, other departments, and/or external constituencies on day-to-day programmatic, operational, and administrative issues. Coordinates activities of support staff engaged in implementation and administration of program objectives. Collects and analyzes data; prepares scheduled and special reports; maintains program/project records and statistical information. Performs or delegates clerical and administrative support tasks. Assists with grant and/or proposal writing as appropriate to the objectives and funding nature of the program; may participate in other fundraising activities; may perform specialized activities of a programmatic nature in direct support of the accomplishment of program objectives and protocol. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
University and department policies and procedures; principles and practices of organization and administration; fabrication and troubleshooting techniques; use of Quality control testing equipment and knowledge of QA, QC procedures.
Short- and long-term range planning; problem analysis and resolution; public contact; use of personal computers; producing detailed QA, QC data analysis reports; QA, QC testing; organizing and maintaining records; research methods.
Communicate effectively in written and oral form; develop and maintain effective working relationships; maintain accurate and orderly records; organize and direct several activities; analyze and evaluate information; use computer hardware and software; manage computer files, maintain and troubleshoot personal computers; generate, read and interpret specifications and QC data; perform detailed work.
Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- Associate's degree in a related field.
   Experience- One (1) year of experience related to the standard duties as outlined.
   Equivalency- Any equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience as approved by Human Resource Services.
