Purpose of Classification:
Will Assist Teacher in implementing objectives, detailed in the programs written plans and adhere to programs performance standards for the families participating in the assigned center. The Assistant will work under the supervision of a Teacher or Program Director in a setting that requires knowledge of child development, high standards of confidentiality, and ability to follow instructions effectively and efficiently.
Standard Duties:
Assists center staff wight he supervision of children in assigned center activities. Monitors activities of children to promote safety in the center setting. Assists in planning and scheduling of center activities for parents & children. Maintains center and equipment tidy and safe on a daily basis. Assists in organizing monthly parent meetings and providing child care when appropriate. Promotes open lines of communication at all program levels. Performs related duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of techniques and procedures required in teaching techniques and skills. Knowledge of child development and child care practices & early childhood center operations.
Skill in interpersonal communications and basic teaching skills.
Ability to establish and maintain a congenial working relationship with children, associates and the public; follow oral and written instructions; establish effective relationships; work in a self-contained or team teaching situation; solve problems; keep work environment neat and organized.
Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- High School diploma or GED Certificate
